What I like about this group project is that 1) it takes very little effort from the coordinator (me), 2) what the group has to do is very easy - which results in high participation rate 3) I met the small budget of $35 (the group had over 200 adults and kids) - and last but not least, 4) it is a beautiful [tag-tec]unique teacher gift[/tag-tec] that will be treasured for a long time.

Step 1. Get Card Stock Any card stock will do. The size is your preference too. I purchased my invitation cards from Kinko's for $5.95 (25 sheets or 50 cards). I purchased 4 different designs to add variety to the book. |

Step 2. Separate Cards. The invitation cards I got had a perforated divider to make it easy to separate the invitation cards. Some invitations cards or note cards come loose so this step is not necessary. The goal is to end up with stacks of loose single cards to distribute to your group. |

Step 3. Write, draw, decorate the card. Have pens, markers, stickers and let each person fill her card to her heart's desire. A well-wish, a memory, a thank you note, a lesson taught, a prayer, a joke, a drawing, the more variety the merrier. What a teacher treasures most is that it's from the heart. |

Step 4. Get the cards bound. Any local print shop can spiral-bound the cards for around $6-$8. That price should include a vinyl backing and a clear plastic front cover to give it a professional look. We had over 150 cards, so we split it into 2 books By the way, the front cover is the same card stock, my daughter simply decorated it with a few stickers … Or you can put a quote about teachers such as: "A teacher affects eternity. He can never tell where his influence stops." ~ Henry Brooks Adams, American Writer |
